This painting first came to be in my mind. I had a vision of the light breaking over the mountain, but it looked more like a window of stained glass. As I worked on the light, I could feel the significance of it. The light was hope.

The midnight blue which frames the landscape and the less than cheerful colors of the land all connect to what our outlook more often sees in hardship, but if we look upward our dreary outlook can give way to hope.
